“Reduce red meat & dairy, and eat more plants”. This is what we have been constantly told by the authorities, the world’s leading institutions, organizations and media in the era of combatting rapid climate change. There is no question the methane emitted by cows in the animal agriculture industry is destructive. However claiming that “a vegan diet is the single biggest way to reduce your impact on planet Earth” does seem to be an exaggeration, no?
And is it really the case? Because popular vegan foods like avocados, soy and almonds do cause massive environmental destruction. So how could eating regional plant-based foods be potentially less environmentally damaging than eating local and organic meat & dairy? In this video, I will be explaining and debunking the popular claims for the environmental danger of veganism & plant-based diets – avocados, soy & nuts using life-cycle assessment.
