The annual Hollywood Climate Summit is set to take place for the sixth time from June 2-4, 2025. It will be hosted at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
The event will feature fully plant-based cuisine and a variety of eco-friendly vendors. The organizers are working with partners such as Earth Angel by TheGreenShot, Bevi, r.World, Set Zero, Quixote, Support + Feed, and Food Access LA to provide low-emission transportation, reusable drinkware, and locally-sourced plant-based menu options.
The summit aims to bridge the gap between environmental experts and leaders from media and entertainment through action-oriented conversations. Several sessions will take place, including one titled “Why Are We Consuming This?: What We Eat, Buy, and Watch”.
The speakers in this panel, which is sponsored by Mother Jones, include Veggie Grill founder and Beyond Meat advisor T.K. Pillan, VGAN Chocolate founder Thomas Kraft, and many more. The session will explore how what we consume can shape environmental and societal change.
“Bringing climate solutions to the mainstream”
Other panels will focus on subjects such as environmental storytelling in Grey’s Anatomy, how gaming studios can integrate climate themes, climate resilient communities, and fossil fuel companies’ lack of environmental responsibility.
The first two days of the summit will be hosted by climate comedians Esteban Gast and Rasheda Crockett. On the third day, attendees will meet at the nearby Writers Guild Theater for interactive workshops, live discussions, and networking, followed by a closing party.
Notably, Los Angeles and West Hollywood have both voted to endorse the Plant-Based Treaty in recent years. Last year, Los Angeles enacted a new plant-based policy mandating a shift towards plant-based food in the county’s food service provider contracts.
“Our large-scale community building has substantially grown the entertainment industry’s engagement in climate strategy and story-driven climate literacy,” says Hollywood Climate Summit. “To date, HCS has engaged over 30,000 creative professionals and 7,000 companies across 65 countries. In short, we’re bringing climate solutions to the mainstream and creating a bit of healthy FOMO along the way.”
