9 months since the initial launch of its world’s first Peanut Butter Buttons, plant-based snack company Superfoodio has launched across 196 Co-op stores throughout the UK as part of the Apiary Scheme.
Superfoodio will be one of the first three brands to launch in the incubator created by the Co-op to work with smaller suppliers with unique, value-led product offerings. A total of three macro-packed flavours (Original, PB&J and Coco Crunch) will hit shelves all retailing for £1.50.
Specialising in peanut butter snacks made with natural and simple ingredients, Superfoodio has received much recognition since the launch of its new product, including a Bronze Award at The Nourish Awards in the Snacks and food to go category, global runners up at World Food Innovation Awards, and placing as finalists for The Grocer New Product awards.
“We wanted a simpler way to enjoy peanut buttery goodness on-the-go,” said husband and wife founders Nirali and Jagir Mankodi. “The problem with a jar (or a squeezy pack) is that you always end up with sticky fingers and an oily mess!”
With sales totalling over £100million last year, pure peanut butter hasn’t enjoyed much innovation since the 1800’s. Superfoodio’s aim is to expand the category by giving consumers something new to enjoy: ”they are the perfect snack to satisfy that peanut butter craving anywhere, anytime. No jars, no mess, no more butter fingers!” said the pair.
